Hey! It’s Jessica and today I want to talk about something that’s maybe a little more PERSONAL. I found in my own life whenever I kind of see somebody going thru something, whether it’s a disaster, something devastating to their life or traumatic, a lot of times I feel like we’re programmed to just kind of glance over it. Or, you know, you see those Facebook posts and just say
Praying for you!
but how serious ARE we?
but how much do we REALLY care?
do we really want to MAKE a difference?

make a differenceThis week I had a get together with some of my personal coaches on my Dare 2 Dream team. And it was JUST saddening how many were going thru issues with their grandparents or their parents with their health was deteriorating and a lot of them where in the hospital and some had even recently passed away.

I remember a time in my life before I had personally experienced the loss of a loved one and I WOULD just be like So sorry, I’m praying for you.

I CAREDbut I didn’t really CARE, if you know what I mean. So it is interesting how once you experience loss or pain or hurt or even something super exciting, you relate to that so much more. But what I want to focus on more is extending that same care and compassion, whether or not I have walked in their shoes.

It’s easy to look at things differently when you understand the pain, but what if we just extend our thinking to kind of put ourself in their shoes and think if that was us, how would we want someone to treat us or reach out to us?

Life’s About Relationshipmake a difference

I just know in my own life, I’ve lost quite a few grandparents and that was always really hard for me because I just had a special relationship with them and really cared about them so now I look at those situations and circumstances differently. But, what I WANT to do is look at ALL people differently where I can just improve as a person and improve as a friend. That’s what life’s about: RELATIONSHIP.

Unfortunately, we are really living in this crazy, busy world where we’re attached to our phones and disconnected from our emotions. I know I’m guilty of this and this is why I’m sharing this with you because this is what I’m working on personally. I was in a training recently that was talking about how it makes people feel when you’re in a conversation but you’re looking at your phone half the time and THIS IS SOMETHING I TOTALLY DO! Even this past week, I made it my mission to JUST SET IT DOWN a lot of times and I could tell it would really make a difference.make a difference

I just want to encourage you. I would love if you guys joined me on this journey of sympathizing more with people, empathizing with people and focusing our attention on people’s needs. You’re going to need somebody one day and you’re going to hope someone does the same for you. It’s just what humanity is all about. It’s about LOVE and CARE and extending a hand when people need it. I’ve definitely been thru circumstances where I felt alone and I felt like nobody was there. I’m sure you’ve probably felt that way before. Don’t be that person that abandons people in their time of need. And I KNOW, I DEFINITELY don’t do that on purpose. I don’t do it intentionally. But I want to
INTENTIONALLY
reach out and
NOT BE that person
which I think it TOTALLY doable.

We CAN make a difference!

Hopefully this helped you today. Find somebody RIGHT NOW when you finish this. Find someone to reach out to and say, you know what, I’m here if you need an ear to talk to, if you need some food brought by or if you just need some encouragement. I guarantee it will go a super long way.
