giving upWhen You Feel Like Giving Up…

I’m sure you’ve been motivated, determined, fired up, ready to rock a goal you made or a new workout program and then time passes and you find yourself giving up. Been there? WHAT THE HECK? WHAT HAPPENED? NOT AGAIN, RIGHT? I like to blame our fast food society. We have programmed ourselves to get what we want and to get it NOW. If we don’t get the results we are looking for in our workouts, in our jobs, shoot…in our marriages, then giving up is a valid option. We have made it acceptable. And some of us do it over and over and over again. And we don’t even want to! What gives?? This giving up way of life is one reason the health and fitness industry is BOOMING. We get excited. We see the infomercials, the testimonials, the results, the 3 easy payments and we are committed! Goodbye fat jeans! Hello new me! Then, two weeks in, the work has set in. You are making sacrifices and that person in the mirror…well, they kind of look the same. Sounds like giving up time.

Who is to Blame?giving up

I wouldn’t necessarily beat yourself up over giving up on yourself. We’ve all done it. But, what I would do, is STOP giving up. It’s the beginning steps of change. First you must acknowledge there’s a problem. Once you are aware then denial is impossible. If you have a pattern of starting, but not finishing, then it’s time for a change. You need to determine WHAT made you commit in the first place. Has that reason or problem been solved, whether that’s getting healthier, getting a job promotion, stopping destructive behaviors in your life, etc? Because odds are you have the tools and means necessary to get you where you want to go, you just have to avoid the giving up monster. Don’t allow it to be an option in your head. Make moving forward a non negotiable in your life. Giving up should become incomprehensible. This attitude will change everything. It has for me.

It’s 2 weeks in..What will you do?
