Next Level Plyo Pushupsplyo pushups

This past weekend I attended a Mastermind event with other top producers in other industries. We sat thru many sessions taking notes, learning from each other, helping each other grow. Might sound boring, right? Well, the training happen to fall over Halloween weekend, so we had a party to celebrate. Now, a little bit about me. I don’t do costumes. I just don’t. I don’t enjoy being the center of attention or even people looking at me really! Ha!—IF I HAD A CHOICE! My husband, on the other hand, is the polar opposite! And if you are married to your polar opposite then you know every few years, this girl has to put on a costume to suffice the husband.  THIS was THAT year.

Costume Doesn’t Show

Because I attempted to wait as long as possible in hopes of avoiding a costume, we had to get the one my husband found shipped to our hotel. Halloween morning we found out that it was returned to sender due to a vacant property. UMMM….we were staying at the Hilton Sandestin and the address was correct so I figured this was God’s way of simply letting me off the hook. SWEET!

My husband didn’t feel the same way. Instead, during an hour break, he wanted to race to the nearest costume shop (which was 28 min away) and grab a costume on the fly! ARE YOU CRAZY?! I can’t try it on…make sure it fits…make sure its appropriate (as most female costumes ARE NOT)…I actually gave myself a migraine on the way there. I told you I don’t do costumes. Ha!

The next paragraph will shock you. Something happens when you stop caring about what other people think. I love the saying by Dr. Phil McGraw, “You would worry less about what people think if you knew how little they did.” Perhaps that’s why I don’t want to wear a costume. Maybe its less about being the center of attention and more about other people. I haven’t had the chance to self evaluate and see the underlying reason as to why I don’t enjoy wearing costumes, (ha!) but that night, I did stop caring about what people thought of me and had a great time.

One of my friends approached me and said, “Let’s do plyo pushups.” (plyo pushups– a pushup exerting enough force upward to clap in between pushups)

Me: “Um…plyo pushups??? I’m in a dress.” That would have been an EASY out.

But he reminded me that I could just face my legs to the back and be fine. The normal Jessica would have said HECK NO. But the me that wants MORE out of life…that wants to embrace every moment…that DOESN’T WANT TO CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT ME…THAT Jessica said yes. I have no idea how or why, but it ended up being super fun. I eventually had to stop as I couldn’t feel my dress and was slightly worried it was around my waist.

The Memorable Plyo Pushups

You don’t have to do plyo pushups to overcome the fear of what others think of you, but I encourage you to try shutting off your brain sometimes. It can be worth it!
