How To Accomplish Your Dreams
A study done on Yale University graduates is very telling as to how to achieve goals. The small amount of students that wrote their goals down accomplished more than all the other graduates combined. CRAZY, RIGHT? There must be something to it! BUT, I have found in my life, that there needs to be a little more involved than just writing it down and hoping and praying and squeezing your eyes shut only to peek out every now and then to see if anything has changed. Ha!
Interest vs. Commitment
(per Merriam Webster dictionary)
Interest-
: a feeling of wanting to learn more about something or to be involved in something
: a quality that attracts your attention and makes you want to learn more about something or to be involved in something
: something (such as a hobby) that a person enjoys learning about or doing
Commitment-
: a promise to do or give something
: a promise to be loyal to someone or something
: the attitude of someone who works very hard to do or support something
Want to know how to achieve goals? Gage your interest vs your commitment. As you can see in the definitions above, its “a wanting” vs “a promise”. Two very different things, right? Have you ever wanted something? A want is not a guarantee, but more of a desire. Whereas a PROMISE…that’s a whole different story.
