Hey guys, it’s Jessica and it’s time for my Wednesday rant, so I hope you’re ready!

So this week… Let’s see… I was told my head’s too big for my body… umm.. I’m waaay too skinny… Let’s see, what else… I was most likely judging people who I haven’t walked in their shoes because my life over here is just so perfect so I can’t relate. Here’s the thing… at first, you know, it’s kinda funny because last week my rant was all about the things we tell OURSELVES, and this week my rant is gonna be about the things we deal with from OUTSIDE SOURCES.

So, the old Jessica would’ve been devastated.
My feelings would have been hurt.
I would have been checking the mirror to see if my head really is too big for my body.
And I just would’ve been second guessing everything I do.

But the new Jessica realizes who she is, and realizes that I’m not going to make everybody happy but I still have to be me, and I have to be true to who I am!
But I also know for a fact that success and getting where you want to go in life, it requires
overcoming obstacles and struggles,
and failing,
and being knocked down,
and getting back up,
and if for a second you think I haven’t gone through THAT then you are DEFINITELY wrong!
You know, I’m a firm believer though in going against the flow, so guess what?

What you focus on, you becomeovercoming obstacles

Normal people… they get knocked down and they probably sit there and dwell in it,
but I don’t have time for a pity party because I’m out to make a difference in this world,
and I want my life to matter, and if I’m dwelling on the negative, and you know they say, “What you focus on you become.” So I don’t always share all of my bad days, not because they don’t exist, but because I don’t want to focus on them because I don’t want to perpetuate them.

I want to move onward and upward and in a positive direction,
overcoming obstacles in life,
but I can guarantee you that I’ve had struggle.
I’ve had days, weeks, months, where I was down and out and devastated,
and didn’t know where my life was going.
I’ve had marriage issues that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy.
I’ve had sleepless nights where I had no idea if my husband would live or die.
I’ve been escorted off a cruise ship by the FBI.
I’ve had struggle, and devastation, and heartache but what I will tell you,
is through struggle comes strength, and you don’t find out what you’re made of in life until you overcome something great!

You know, why do we want to climb Mt. Everest?
Because that’s an amazing feat, and can you imagine what you feel like when you accomplish that?
Overcoming obstacles will be easy!
You know, that’s not the same as when you walk down the street to get your mail.
That’s not the same feeling.
So the same is true in life and in success.
You’re not going to reach success on an easy, perfectly paved path.
It’s going against the flow…
That means you’re encountering current.
You’re encountering waves, and struggle, but you’re pushing forward anyways.

Through struggle comes the strength you’ll need in overcoming obstaclesovercoming obstacles

My pastor shared this story this past week that I thought was super awesome, cause like I said, everything I share with you guys is something I’m learning. It’s something that’s pertaining to my life and helping me in my situation. But it was about when a caterpillar goes into a cocoon, how the only way to get out and become a beautiful butterfly is for it to push through the cocoon. It’s a struggle and through the struggle, the pushing through the cocoon will dry it’s wings and allow it to become the butterfly! So, if you see a cocoon and you want to rescue the caterpillar and you go cut it out, guess what’s going to happen? That caterpillar’s gonna die because it didn’t go through the struggle to get to where it needed to be! WOW. That’s what success is about. That’s what my life has been about and that’s what I want to share with you every single day.
It’s not easy.
It’s not a perfectly paved path.
You’re gonna have to go against the flow.
You’re probably gonna get made fun of, talked down to,
and have people that don’t believe in you, but that’s part of it.
And when you come out on the other side, it’s gonna be GLORIOUS and I hope that you impact a lot of people on the way. If you’re struggling and if you’re even falling down RIGHT NOW, if you get back up, you’ve already inspired me!

So I’d love to hear your story, and to hear what you’re going to do about it. Are you going to dwell in the pity party, or are you going to pull up your pants and fight your way to the top? Because that’s what it takes, but I know you’re strong enough, and you can do it.

You weren’t meant to go with the flow.
You were meant to make a difference.
